Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work with our federal client in Washington DC. The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the computer networks and related monitoring systems. You will play an important role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability. This position requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, software, and excellent problem-solving abilities to address any network-related issues. This position supports seven primary activities:

    Network management and monitoring using NCM Tools
  • Manage Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)
  • Multi-vendor Firewall Management
  • Remote Client connectivity and Remote VoIP Access
  • LAN management
  • WAN/internet management.
  • Voice and video telecommunications
  • Remote access service
  • Azure Cloud Network Management

This is a hybrid role 2 days/week on site in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to manage network projects and team deliverables.
  • Design, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networking environments to support organizational needs.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network connectivity problems, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
  • Upgrade network equipment and software to meet evolving technology requirements.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other security protocols.
  • Provide support in planning and scheduling upgrades and maintaining infrastructure components in the production environment, including maintenance performed after hours or during maintenance windows.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other relevant documentation.
  • Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and implement optimization strategies to enhance network efficiency.
  • Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and protect against unauthorized access.
  • Administer network infrastructure, including user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Manage network resources, such as IP addresses, domain names, and network documentation.
  • Provide technical support to resolve network-related issues, both remotely and on-site, ensuring prompt and effective problem resolution.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to address incident management, updates and upgrades, and technology refresh.
  • Configure, update, and utilize network monitoring tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and capacity issues.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend network infrastructure improvements and implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and IT support staff, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of network infrastructure with other systems.
  • Design, implement, operate, and maintain complex TCP/IP networks included routers, switches, firewall, load balancers, et.
  • Provide license management for assigned enterprise platforms.
  • Active participation in all Agile Ceremonies as required (including Program Increment planning).
  • Assist Operations Manager in Ad-hoc report generation, data calls, and other O&M activities as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 10+ years of network experience
  • In lieu of a degree, additional relevant experience may be applicable
  • U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
  • CCNP certification required
  • Cisco ACI Infrastructure experience
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, routing, switching, subnetting, and network security concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with CISCO network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent are a plus.

  • Cisco VoIP (Call Manager/Unity/UCCX)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience with ticketing systems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience leading and managing Enterprise Teams
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government customers
