GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement individualized plans to assist people with disabilities in finding and maintaining employment positions in the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine necessary information regarding individuals referred to Benchmark Human Services for employment services to develop a strategy to implement the goal of community based employment through in person and remote communication with clients, family members, former employers, and various other entities.
  • Build relationships and research and retain information related to what businesses in the community need related to hiring and maintaining employees through a variety of methods including internet and direct contact.
  • Match employer expectations and needs to the abilities and strengths of underemployed or unemployed individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist client in interview preparation and transportation, lead employment groups.
  • Communicate and meet with referring entities such as the BERC Center, other unemployment offices and Maryland Works in regard to planning and client evaluation and job placement efforts through means of telephone, email, and in person contact as well as written reports.
  • Supervise job coaches as they assist with client-specific job shadowing, assessments, job development and/or training.
  • Attendance for work per requirements of program, Benchmark, and client specific needs, i.e. may include some evening or weekend hours as needed based on individuals served.
  • Complete Employment Assessments with all individuals initially and annually.
  • When an Individual served has employment goals, must meet and assist the Job Coach with the weekly schedules.
  • Develop additional volunteer possibilities that would increase job-skills of individuals as well as lead to possible jobs.
  • Apply for Maryland Employment Bonds when needed for individuals hard to employ due to forensic background.
  • Must maintain good attendance throughout employment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Recruit, mentor, train, and review staff such as new Employment Consultants and job coaches.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) years experience in business world in management or supervisory role.
  • ACRE certification (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators) required
  • College degree and/or some experience preferred with people with disabilities preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid auto insurance
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
  • Valid Mandt certification
