Summary:

The Civil Superintendent coordinates all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, influence and manage day-to-day activities of project field staff in line with established policies, practices and procedures. Direct reports include foremen and support staff, and subcontractors,
  • Assist directly in establishing long and short-term planning of objectives and projects,
  • Effectively manage overall planning and implementation of division projects,
  • Directly manage the project, providing leadership, support, coaching and overall performance management,
  • Experience with electronic job reporting such as ProCore or Heavy Job,
  • Oversee construction phase of contract commitments to ensure profitability and timely execution of work,
  • Maintain close contact with the Vice President, project manager(s), project engineers for large projects with civil scope,
  • Provide energetic leadership and experience in managing construction projects with emphasis on concrete, wet and dry utilities,
  • Responsible for all field operations and related activities,
  • Provide regular feedback to ownership on projects,
  • Maintain the integrity of the projects,
  • Ensure projects are scheduled for maximum production,
  • Ensure maximum profitability,
  • Minimized cost overruns,
  • Lead and facilitate meetings,
  • Ability to resolve with difficult situations,
  • Ensure timely delivery of project,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Leading teams in a civil construction setting,
  • 3-5 years' civil construction industry experience,
  • 3-5 years' civil management experience in heavy highway construction,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, decision-making ability, strong MS Office and quantitative reasoning skills preferred,
  • Strong track record of effective management of construction work, resulting in completion of contracts within time and cost limits required,
  • Track record of solid decision making in complex environments,
  • Superior leadership skills,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills,
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required,
  • Ability to interpret and follow Gantt schedule,
  • Valid driver's license,
  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended,
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
